Mouse Monoclonal Antibody Production by Transient Transfection Description

Transient transfection technology is an effective alternative to mouse hybridoma cell culture for mouse antibody production, especially for hybridoma cell lines with low productivity, unstable productivity, mixed clone, etc. By cloning out the antibody VL and VH genes from the original hybridoma cells, one gains the flexibility in producing the antibody by transient transfection, stable CHO cell expression, changing the constant region to different sub-type or even as a chimeric antibody. Once the antibody gene is obtained, the antibody can be re-produced even if one losses the hybridoma cell bank or cell line.
