CD43 antigens

CD43 antigens general information

CD43 Gene ID 6693
CD43 Official Full Name sialophorin
CD43 Alias Leukosialin, sialophorin, SPN
CD43 Cellular Expression T; NK; Granulocyte; Macrophage; Platelet; Stem cell
CD43 Ligand/Receptor/Association CD54, CD62E, CD169
CD43 Function Cell adhesion and T cell activation
CD43 Summary The protein encoded by this gene is a major sialoglycoprotein found on the surface of thymocytes, T lymphocytes, monocytes, granulocytes, and some B lymphocytes. It may be part of a physiologic ligand-receptor complex involved in T-cell activation. During T-cell activation, this protein is actively removed from the T-cell-APC (antigen-presenting cell) contact site, suggesting a negative regulatory role in adaptive immune response.
